Petition to protect Christian Charities
Please consider taking the time to sign this petition. This recommendation if adopted would have a a big affect on many Christian churches and ministries within Canada. We love the youth we serve, and care for them deeply. A move to change charitable status would affect our ability to support countless at-risk youth. The petition closes August 15 at noon. It has come to our attention that there is currently a recommendation before the federal government which would discriminate against Christian charities. This document advises the government to take the following actions:
To remove the charitable status of all charities which are deemed to be “anti-abortion”.
To remove the charitable status of all charities whose purpose is the “advance of religion”.
There is currently a large official petition which is circulating nationally, and which has a deadline of August 15 around noon.
We would encourage you to view this petition and to sign it if you are in favour of it.

The following appears:
Recommendation 429
No longer provide charitable status to anti-abortion organizations.
Recommendation 430
Amend the Income Tax Act to provide a definition of a charity which would remove the privileged status of “advancement of religion” as a charitable purpose.
Both of these Recommendations are found between Recommendations 413 to 432 of the Report.
